R&B star Chris Brown was supposed to be setenced on Wednesday for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, however the judge taking care of his case has given him a push up until August 27th for the final sentencing.
[NY Times] Mr. Brown, 20, pleaded guilty to felony assault in June, and was expected to receive a sentence of five years probation and six months of community labor. But Judge Patricia Schnegg of Los Angeles Superior Court said Wednesday that she was delaying the sentencing until Aug. 27 to determine whether Mr. Brown could serve the community labor — along the lines of removing graffiti or cleaning roads — in his home state of Virginia, The A.P. reported.
The judge, who met briefly with a prosecutor and a defense lawyer before announcing the change, said the state had not yet responded to her request that Mr. Brown’s punishment include community labor rather than community service, The A.P. said. [NY Times]
